Description
The Peace Bridge in Calgary was designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatravo and was opened in March 2012. The bridge spans the Bow River, connecting Downtown Calgary and the suburb of Sunnyside. It is now used by over 6,000 pedestrians and cyclists every day. The striking red and white colour of the bridge represents the colours of the flags of Canada and Calgary. The pedestrian bridge has become an iconic landmark in the city and a popular recreational destination with close proximity to the city centre, Princes Island Park and West Eau Claire Park.
