Description
The Remarkable Rocks are a group of large granite boulders found in the rugged wilderness of Flinders Chase National Park on Kangaroo Island. The rocks were created over a long period of time by erosion caused by the weather conditions and the crashing waves. The rocks are now covered by golden orange lichen, and they are a popular tourist destination on Kangaroo Island. Kangaroo island is located off the mainland of South Australia, about 112 km southwest of Adelaide. The island is accessible by ferry or plane and is 150 km in length. The island is a sanctuary for wildlife including kangaroos, koalas, Tammar wallabies, echidnas, sea lions, dolphins, fur-seals and an array of birdlife. Amazing coastal scenery is found all around the island, and with a small population of just over 4,000, you are often lucky enough to enjoy it in solitude.
