The Grizzly Bear (ursus arctos horribilis) is a North American subspecies of the Brown Bear. A pronounced hump on its shoulder distinguishes it from the Black Bear. Grizzly Bears are huge animals weighing up to 410 kilograms (900 pounds) and can be up to 2.5 meters (8 feet) long. They have the ability to run up to 48 kilometers (30 miles) per hour. The Grizzly Bear is omnivorous, eating mainly berries, plants, small mammals and fish, and may also eat the small calves of moose, elk, deer, cattle and sheep.
