Description
The hike to Lake Agnes is one of the most popular trails in Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada. The moderate hike takes you about 3.5 km above Lake Louise with an elevation gain of 400m. At the end of the trail, you are rewarded with spectacular views of the lake surrounded by mountain peaks and forest. Autumn is a lovely time to visit the lake, with the changing colours of the larch trees and snow covering the ground. Lake Agnes was named after Lady Agnes MacDonald, the wife of the first Canadian Prime Minister, John MacDonald. Your hike wouldn't be complete without a visit to the Lake Agnes Tea House on the shore of the Lake to enjoy your refreshment of choice. The original teahouse was built in 1901 by the Canadian Pacific Railway as a refuge for hikers and the current building was completed in 1981.
